Researcher of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (ISMed - CNR) Expert in Tourism Marketing

Piera Buonincontri has a Master of Science degree in Business Economics from the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and received her PhD in Marketing and Communication from Università degli Studi di Salerno. She works at the Italian National Research Council (CNR – Italy) since 2008 and since 2020 she is the scientific coordinator of the ‘Tourism economics and management’ research line at CNR -ISMed.

Her research interests are focused on the study of marketing in tourism and cultural tourism for the competitive advantage of destinations. Her research areas include experiential marketing, co-creation, tourists’ sustainable behavior, new technologies for the enhancement of tourism and cultural experiences, cultural tourism in developing areas. She has been, and currently is, scientific responsible of projects on the topic of marketing innovation in tourism She regularly presents her scientific works in national and international conferences and publishes in leading journals, including Tourism Management, Sustainability, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management.
She is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Multidisciplinary Academic Tourism (JOMAT) and is reviewer for many international scientific journals.
